HEKAYAH | THE STORY 2019

Hekayah – The Story is an annual event that brings together the local community to celebrate the National Day of the United Arab Emirates. It is a night of poetry, music and performances that celebrate the culture diversity as well as heritage of the UAE. This year’s event was presented under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.

I was invited to design the visuals for this year’s Hekayah, which hosted ten different acts. From spoken word artists to the first Emirati rock band, I had the challenge of having to design visual sets for ten diverse performances in a short span of time. I reached out to each individual artist to find out more about them and what their work was about, so that I could create visuals that were true to them. During the event, I also technically set up my gear and VJ’d using Green Hippo’s Hippotizer.
